Distribution of PlainsGold® seed expands in time for winter wheat planting

logo-no-taglineJune 3, 2014 – For the 2014 winter wheat planting season, PlainsGold announces it has 26 new seed growers serving Kansas, Montana, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming.

This time last year, some winter wheat farmers were scrambling to find seed for some of the most sought-after varieties, such as PlainsGold Byrd, Brawl CL Plus, Denali, Hatcher and Snowmass, so this increase in seed growers is good news. According to PlainsGold Executive Director Darrell Hanavan, the brand was almost completely sold out of winter wheat seed by the time planting season rolled around in 2013. “The addition of 26 new seed growers is important to meet the demand for our varieties,” says Hanavan. “Most of these new growers are also in new geographic areas for PlainsGold.”

The new seed growers are listed below. Their complete contact information is available on www.PlainsGold.com, or by contacting the PlainsGold office toll-free at 1-800-WHEAT-10, or (970) 449-6994. Farmers can also send an email to info@plainsgold.com.

The PlainsGold brand is owned by the Colorado Wheat Research Foundation (CWRF). Royalties from the sale of PlainsGold seed support public wheat breeding at Colorado State University. This further enhances the funding provided by the wheat assessment paid by all Colorado wheat farmers.
